Harav Moshe Dovid Ostreicher ZTZ”L (1883-1954), The Chimpa Rav, was a talmid of R. Tzvi Hirsch of Munkacs (The Darkei Teshuva), R. Yehuda Greenfeld and R. Yehuda Grunewald. Known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom and great Posek, he served as Rov in Chimpa and later Arad. Miraculously surviving the Holocaust, he was greatly involved in helping Agunos after the war. He later immigrated to New York, settling in Williamsburg where he was held in great esteem.
